Why I’m here
So here it is! My first blog!
If you’re here today you’re probably reading my blog to learn a little bit about me.
I mean, if you’re going to ask me to help you about something as sensitive and special as getting you and baby to sleep, you want to be sure we’re going to mesh and we’ll be working towards the same goal. And to that I say: GREAT! I’m a sharer (as explained below) and I’d love for you to get to know me a little bit through this post!
When I told a friend of mine that I was studying to become a baby sleep professional she asked, ‘Amanda, why are you doing this?’
My answer is long winded—but this is the Internet and if you’re here, you’re likely a mom who’s already had 5 cups of coffee today. Let me break down my reasons into bullets for brevity and simplicity of comprehension (for all of those mamas who saw every hour on the clock last night. I feel you!) and you’ll likely get a feel for who I am:
I’m selfish. If I’m REALLY being honest, my passion for sleep started selfishly. I LOVE SLEEPING. I really do. Beds? Sheets? Pillows? Several hours of uninterrupted sleep? That’s my jam and always has been (just ask my high school friends who teased me for wanting to leave raging parties because I was too tired to keep it going late). I love sleep. I love naps. I want to help others love sleep and naps—and here we are.
I’m what they call….proactive. This is probably an understatement because I love nothing more than a good plan. My proactive nature meant that I read every book about baby sleep before my daughter was born. I implemented a routine and strategies the minute she was born and we had a great sleeper. I repeated this with my second, and again, good sleeper. I have a lot of knowledge about sleep and became the person people asked about baby sleep amongst friends. Which leads me to my next point:
I’m a sharer. Anyone who knows me knows that I love to share a good thing. I really do. If I think there’s something worth knowing about (hello INSTANTPOT?!) or doing, I share my love for this person/place/thing so enthusiastically your eyes by start to burn from my enthusiasm. I want to share baby sleep secrets with you! I do!
I’m anxious. Getting to the nitty-gritty here. I’ve struggled with general anxiety for a while but through some great help, I feel great 98% of the time. When I had my second daughter however, I suffered through some pretty tough Postpartum Anxiety that wasn’t fun. One thing became clear during this time for me: when I was sleeping my anxiety was markedly better. When I wasn’t sleeping, I was a mess. I began to see this trend at my moms groups and baby meet ups. Mom’s would often remark ‘Oh gosh, I’m so crazy right now because I’m not sleeping’ or ‘I feel like a new person after a solid 6 hours!’. Well, I can tell you that studying to become a sleep consultant has confirmed these anecdotes to be true. Research has proven that when we’re not sleeping we’re far more likely to suffer through anxiety, depression, weight gain, a lowered immune system…the list goes on. Sleep deprivation is tough already but add in the postpartum experience and there has never been more of a need for sleep for mothers in their most vulnerable time.
I’m a helper. If you look at my history, it will show that I love to help. As a student I was a peer tutor and I helped teachers after class. I was a camp counselor, a teacher, a guidance counselor and a mental health advocate—there are some pretty clear connections here.
I want to share the gift of sleep with you and I really want to help moms get back to sleep. Not sleeping is rough and I can think of nothing better than helping your family see 7am again (and not 3am, 4am, 5am, 6am and THEN 7am….the 7PM-7AM kind!)
I started Baby’s Best Sleep because I get what its like to need to sleep—I really do. I want your baby to sleep and most of all, I want YOU to sleep mama and I’m going to work with you until we get it right. Book your 15 min free consult today to see how we can get started!

Xx, Amanda
